Following the grand reveal of WWE 2K26, which showcased various new match types, gameplay improvements, and presentation additions for the upcoming WWE and 2K wrestling game series.
While initial gameplay glimpses were offered during the 2026 Royal Rumble, 2K and WWE have now released a comprehensive gameplay trailer. This in-depth look at the game’s features is narrated by former WWE wrestler and commentator, Wade Barrett.

The trailer provides a detailed examination of the new match types: Inferno Matches, Three Stages of Hell, I Quit Matches, and Dumpster Matches.
The Inferno Match is a 1v1 contest set in a ring engulfed in flames. Victory is achieved by intensifying the fire with high-impact maneuvers, then dragging an opponent into the superheated flames.
In an I Quit Match, two competitors face off with the sole objective of forcing their opponent to verbally surrender. This can be accomplished through relentless attacks, submission holds, or the use of various weapons.
The Dumpster Match draws parallels to the traditional Casket Match. To secure a win, a player must throw their opponent into a dumpster and close the lid.
The Three Stages of Hell is a gauntlet-style 1v1 match where a wrestler needs to win two out of three rounds. A unique aspect of this match type is the ability for players to customize the match rules for each individual round.
For instance, the first round could be a standard wrestling match, followed by a No Disqualification match for the second, and potentially a Hell in a Cell match for the third, depending on player preference.

General improvements and new mechanics introduced in WWE 2K26 are also highlighted in the trailer.
These enhancements include fewer invisible barriers and ledges, allowing for greater environmental interaction. Additionally, reactions to falls, slams onto objects like steel steps and tables, and prop hits are more realistic, with an increased chance of triggering blood loss.
Further gameplay additions feature the ability to use Title Belts as weapons in championship matches, expanded battle interactions near barricades, and refined reversal mechanics offering improved feedback for strategic timing.
New weapons like shopping carts and thumbtacks are available, alongside the option to stack two tables for increased impact when opponents are slammed through them.

An interesting new mechanic, the Start of Match Actions system, is also showcased. This feature enables players to incorporate storytelling elements before a match begins through various actions, such as:
- Playing to the crowd.
- Offering an opponent a handshake.
- Engaging in chain wrestling.
- Trading blows.
- Launching a sneak attack.
Customization options for opponent AI behavior have been enhanced, allowing for new attack sequences and special moves to be tailored.
Wade Barrett and Booker T join the color commentary team for WWE 2K26. Players will also find expanded interaction options during a WWE Superstar’s entrance.
These options include new gestures, taunts, and pyro effects that can be activated at the player’s discretion.
New Match Types Introduced

This concludes the initial gameplay overview trailer for WWE 2K26. 2K has indicated in its WWE 2K26 Ringside Report that additional gameplay overviews are planned for the future.
