The E-WIN Champion Upgraded Gaming Chair: A Review of Comfort and Adjustability

    Windows Central Verdict

The E-WIN Champion Upgraded chair offers various position adjustments and high-quality materials. Despite these features, achieving comfort for extended periods proved difficult, regardless of the settings. The chair is stiff, experiences functional issues, and its current price makes it challenging to recommend against strong competition. While individual components are satisfactory, and some users might find it suitable, a significant discount would be necessary for it to compete effectively with rivals and even its own predecessors.

    Pros

    • Wide range of adjustment options.
    • Armrests are particularly comfortable.
    • The PU leather feels great to the touch.
    • Easy to assemble with comprehensible instructions.

    Cons

    • The backrest is too hard and uncomfortable in long sessions.
    • Lumbar pillow is too thin and soft.
    • Mode lever stopped functioning.
    • Too expensive versus its competition.

After a previous gaming chair failed, the E-WIN Champion Upgraded series chair was tested over an extended period, including during a busy sales season. This extended testing revealed significant findings. At its retail price of $479.99, the chair is difficult to recommend due to discomfort experienced during prolonged use, which caused back strain, even with the included memory foam cushion.

The E-WIN Champion Upgraded has a solid base and a variety of seat adjustment options.

Assembling the E-WIN Champion chair was straightforward. The chair came with clear, easy-to-understand instructions, complete with text and photographs, along with the necessary tools for assembly. No issues were encountered during this process.

Depending on individual strength and available space, assistance might be needed for assembly, especially for those with mobility issues.

The build quality of the individual parts is robust. Its “Brisa Ultra Premium” PU leather has a pleasant tactile feel, and the heavy-duty aluminum wheel base demonstrates sufficient durability to support users up to 400lbs without structural compromise, regardless of seat height adjustments made via the hydraulic lift.

The chair’s weight limit is 400lbs, indicating that users within this range should not experience issues if the chair is assembled correctly.

The armrests are a genuinely comfortable aspect of the chair.

The E-Win Champion Upgraded Chair offers a wide array of adjustment options designed to enhance comfort. These include its 4D “Integrated Dynamic Lumber Support System”, 4D PU padded armrests, a 55° backrest recline, a hydraulic system for seat height, and a 15° “Rocking Mode.”

Additionally, it includes a magnetic memory foam pillow for head support and a lumbar cushion for added back comfort. However, after experimenting with its settings, the only truly comfortable elements of this chair were found to be its armrests, which align well with a keyboard, and its memory foam head pillow.

The rocking mode lever ceased functioning correctly after a few weeks, making it impossible to disengage this mode.

The rest of the chair feels excessively stiff, akin to leaning against a hard board covered with leather. Furthermore, the lever for adjusting the seat tilt stopped working properly after a couple of weeks, leaving the chair permanently in rocking mode.

This malfunction resulted in the chair feeling unstable, requiring users to sit near the edge to prevent it from tilting too far back. This issue has been noted in other E-Win chairs, as highlighted in a review of the E-WIN Flash XL chair.

Despite various recline options, the chair can still cause discomfort.

The included lumbar pillow feels too flat and hollow to provide adequate back support, often necessitating the use of an alternative pillow. This is particularly notable given that a previous E-Win Champion Series chair, reviewed in 2020, received positive feedback. This ‘Upgraded’ version, however, does not seem to share the same level of comfort.

Experiencing discomfort and physical pain from sitting on what feels like a hard surface is a significant drawback, regardless of backrest recline or seat height adjustments. The malfunctioning rocking mode, which developed after only a few weeks, further exacerbates this, forcing users into awkward sitting positions. This raises concerns about the chair’s long-term durability, despite the otherwise decent build quality of its individual components.

E-WIN Champion Upgraded: Should you buy it?

Despite giving the chair a chance, alternatives are often preferred.

✅ You should buy this if:

    • You enjoy padded armrests.
    • You need a chair that’s easy to assemble.

❌ You should not buy this if:

    • You’re over the 400lb weight limit.
    • You’re on a strict budget.
    • You have issues with back pain.

The issues encountered with this chair make its $479.99 MSRP too high to recommend over competing models. More comfortable gaming chairs are available at lower prices, such as the Razer Enki X or the Sihoo M57, which already present strong competition.

Even if the malfunctioning lever were an isolated incident, the price point remains a significant barrier. It is suggested to consider other options among the best gaming chairs known for their premium value, such as the Secretlab TITAN Evo NanoGen or the Razer Iskur V2.
