The entry-level $399 LCD Steam Deck model is currently unavailable in the US and will not be restocked. An official statement on the Steam Deck website confirms its discontinuation:
“We are no longer producing the Steam Deck LCD 256GB model. Once sold out, it will no longer be available.”
This model is now officially out of stock in the US.

The discontinuation of the LCD Steam Deck is a notable change, as it means the entry-level price point for the device has increased. The most affordable option is now the 512GB OLED model, priced at $549, significantly higher than the previous $399 LCD version.
Valve has not yet provided an official reason for the discontinuation. Speculation, such as that from Andy Hales at Windows Central, suggests that increasing costs for components like RAM and storage, possibly influenced by AI demand, may have made it challenging to maintain the previous price point for the handheld.
While the PC gaming handheld market has expanded significantly since the Steam Deck’s 2022 launch, with competitors like Lenovo, ASUS, and GPD entering the space, it remains uncertain if any will introduce a new device to fill the now-vacant entry-level price segment.
