The Copilot usage metrics APIs from GitHub now allow for a clearer understanding of how Copilot impacts pull request outcomes within an organization, covering everything from review suggestions to merged pull requests.

    How it works

These new enterprise-level API metrics encompass various aspects, including pull request review suggestions and their acceptance, the merging of pull requests initiated with the Copilot coding agent, and the overall pull request cycle time.

    Who can use this feature

This feature is accessible to customers who have activated Copilot usage metrics and hold either the enterprise admin role or the View Enterprise Copilot Metrics role.

    Key benefits

    • Provides visibility into Copilot’s assistance in authoring pull requests.
    • Enables tracking of Copilot’s effectiveness in reducing the time from concept to merged pull request.
    • Allows for measurement of how Copilot’s review suggestions translate into actual code changes.

Further discussion is available within the GitHub Community.
