The Russian government has officially confirmed the blocking of the WhatsApp messaging service within the country. This action is attributed to Meta’s stated “unwillingness to comply with Russian law.”
As a consequence of this block, Russian citizens are being encouraged to transition to the state-owned Max application for their messaging needs. The U.S. messenger app, a product of Meta Platforms (META.O), has been entirely restricted in Russia due to its alleged failure to adhere to local regulations.
