Google’s Gemini has become a popular tool for many, often replacing traditional search for specific answers and research. However, Google routinely reviews Gemini conversations, utilizing this data for chatbot training. This process is not entirely automated, as Google employees may sometimes access these chats to identify areas for improvement in responses.
For users concerned about privacy, particularly regarding sensitive information, the idea of Google employees reviewing personal conversations can be unsettling. While data collection aids in enhancing Gemini’s performance, users have the option to opt out of this training.
How to Turn Off Gemini AI Training

Disabling Gemini AI training is a simple process available on both Android and the web, with minor differences in the steps for each platform.
On Android, users should tap the profile image located in the top-right corner of the Gemini app, then select “Gemini App Activity.” Next, tap the “Turn off” button. Two options will appear: “Turn off” or “Turn off and delete activity.” Selecting the latter will prevent Google from reviewing past Gemini messages, while the former will only apply to future conversations with the AI.
The procedure on the web interface is comparable. First, select the “Activity” option from the left-hand menu, then click the “Turn off” button. The same two options for turning off or turning off and deleting activity will be presented.
What about other chatbots?

Other AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, similarly utilize user conversations for training purposes. Like with Gemini, users typically have the option to opt out to maintain the privacy of their chats.
While the exact steps may vary between different chatbots, the general process is often straightforward, similar to Gemini. Users can usually navigate to the settings section to locate and activate the option to opt out of AI model training.
Further details on disabling AI model training for various popular chatbots can be found in the “How to opt out of AI model training” guide.
