Anticipation is building for the release of the iOS 18 public beta, which will offer iPhone users an early look at the upcoming operating system. Following its unveiling at WWDC, Apple typically makes a public beta available a few weeks after the initial developer beta.
Historically, Apple tends to release its first public betas in July, usually around two to three weeks after the first developer beta becomes available. For iOS 18, this pattern suggests a public beta could be released in mid-July.
Users interested in trying out iOS 18 before its official fall release can enroll in Apple’s Beta Software Program. Once enrolled, the public beta can be installed directly from the Software Update section in the Settings app on a compatible iPhone.
iOS 18 introduces several new features, including enhanced customization options for the Home Screen and Control Center, a redesigned Photos app, new privacy controls, and significant updates to Messages with features like text effects and scheduled sends. Apple Intelligence, the company’s new AI system, will also be a key component, though its full rollout may vary.
