Emma facing off against one of the “Nushi” Malefacts.
Game Freak, the renowned studio behind the Pokémon franchise, showcased Beast of Reincarnation, an upcoming action-adventure title for Xbox, during Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct in January 2026. The game is slated for release in Summer 2026.
The setting is a post-apocalyptic Japan in the year 4026. A parasitic plant known as “Blight” has devastated humanity, and much of Earth’s wildlife has transformed into monstrous “Malefacts.”
Players control Emma, a young woman who has sealed the Blight’s infection within herself, granting her powers to fight the Malefacts.
Accompanied by her enigmatic “blighted” canine partner, Koo, Emma embarks on a journey to defeat the Beast of Reincarnation, which threatens to obliterate the Capital, one of humanity’s final sanctuaries. Her ultimate goal is to eradicate the Blight permanently.

Beast of Reincarnation is an action-adventure game featuring expansive environments. Players utilize Emma’s Blighted powers for traversal across challenging landscapes and engage in combat against numerous Malefacts.
Combat involves sword combos, defensive parries, and a brief time slowdown mechanic to unleash powerful “Blooming Arts,” reminiscent of the combat in Final Fantasy VII Remake.
This time slowdown also allows players to command Koo to restrain enemies or execute area-of-effect attacks, providing tactical advantages in group encounters.

Mastering these abilities is crucial, as the game presents formidable Malefact bosses known as “Nushi.”
These colossal creatures can manipulate their surroundings, demanding strategic approaches and aggressive tactics to defeat them and acquire new powers.
